Estonia Extends its E-residency Program to AI Agents
Since 2014, more than 142,000 people have become e-residents of Estonia. Enterprise Estonia—the company managing the e-residence program—has now started to adjust it to integrate Artificial Intelligence. The first trial of AI ID codes is planned for December 2026, but some experimental testing will begin as early as October. Apparently, in the near future, simple administrative tasks, such as summarising the results of your medical test, analysing bank statements or preparing payments, will be executed by AI agents with digital identities. This makes Estonia the first state on earth to give AI automated systems access to its digital infrastructure.
