Krieg der Sprachen (War of Languages)

Only static can be heard on 107.7 FM. The Russian-language service of Latvian public radio has been shut down—even though a third of the population speaks Russian at home. Russia's propaganda is attempting to fill the void.

Swiss public broadcaster SRF’s correspondent Peter Voegeli and fixers.press journalist Gil Skorwid went on a week tour through the Latvia’s eastern regions. The 25 minutes audio documentary Krieg der Sprachen: Information und Desinformation in Lettland (War of Languages: Information and Disinformation in Latvia), and several shorter radio reports Innovatives Baltikum (Innovative Baltics), Diese Drachenzähne schützen Europas Nordosten (These Dragon’s Teeth Protect Europe’s Northeast) were published on the SRF between May and July 2026 and are accessible online globally.
